LIVING AND NON -LIVING THINGS
Learning
Objectives:
After
completing this topic we should be able to know about:
· Living and non –living things.
· Describe natural things
& man –made things.
There are many things
around us. We see television, chair, book, table, dog, cat, trees, plants,
cars, buses, birds and many more things around us.
These things
are of two kinds:
1. Living things and 2. Non-living
things.
LIVING THINGS:
The things that have life are called living things. Plants,
birds, animals and human beings are living things.
NON –LIVING THINGS:
The things
which do not have life are called non-living things. All man-made things are non-living
things.
There are number of features that
separate living things from non-living things:
· Living things breathe.
· Living things need food and water.
· Living things feel.
· Living things move on their own.
· Living things grow, become old and die.
· Living things reproduce.
Animals give birth or lay eggs.
Plants grow from seeds and other parts.
Non-living things cannot breathe, eat
food, feel, move, grow, become old, die and reproduce.
Natural things:
You found
many things in the nature which are not made by man. These things are called
natural things.
All living
things are natural things.
Non-living
things like the sun, the moon, the stars, mountains, and clouds also exist
naturally.
